Tips for choosing the right Marriage Celebrant for you

Updated: Jun 15, 2018

Celebrants are necessary at your wedding because without one you can’t get legally married! Putting the legal part aside, your Marriage Celebrant choice is very important as they are a great addition to the atmosphere of your wedding and help set the tone for your whole day.

Choosing the right Celebrant is very important. While the rest of your wedding is tailored to reflect you as a couple, there’s little one can do to make a ceremony truly personal. The right Celebrant will want to know the ins and outs about you as a couple, they will understand what you want, and work with you to achieve it. They will also help you make informed decisions about what to include or exclude from your ceremony.

Be prepared to invest in the right Celebrant. Dragging out any old Celebrant to officiate your marriage won’t go unnoticed by you or your guests. Choose someone you can relate to, feel comfy with, is sincere, genuine and who listens to what your needs are.

Ask your Celebrant questions

If you have questions — ask them! And if you feel awkward or uncomfortable then they may not be the right Celebrant for you. Remember to read reviews or ask for testimonials, they should be happy to help.

Meet them in person

It’s best if you can meet your Celebrant in person, but if not then Facetime or Skype as it does help give you a better idea of whether you get along or not, and it also provides you with an indication of how your ceremony will feel.

Make your booking

When you’ve chosen the celebrant of your dreams — book them ASAP. Popular celebrants are booked well in advance, and trust me: you don’t want to be stuck with a Celebrant that you don’t “click” with on such a special day!
