The purpose of a Baby Naming ceremony is to recognise and celebrate the arrival of a child and welcome him or her into the family and circle of friends.

Most often, you as parents will state your love and commitment to your child and declare hopes for their future.

You may want to choose special people to be part of the ceremony, such as godparents or mentors and say a few words at the ceremony as to why you have chosen them and what role you hope they will play in your child's life.

It's also nice to explain why you have chosen your child's name and what it means

to you.

You can organise the ceremony in any way that you want.

It can be fun and interactive for guests who could release butterflies, sign a book with wishes for the child, help make an artwork for the child or light candles.

Or you can make it calm and spiritual and stick to traditional poems or readings, perhaps with some music in the background.
